Russell RCMP responded to a call about an unresponsive woman at a home in Binscarth on November 3, 2025, around 10:55 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a 53-year-old woman suffering from a life-threatening injury. Despite the efforts of emergency medical services, she was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Her death was determined to be a homicide.
RCMP Major Crime Services, the Manitoba West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST), and other support units assisted with the investigation.
On November 6, 2025, police arrested 53-year-old Sheila Mills, also from Binscarth, and charged her with manslaughter. Investigators determined that the two women, who knew each other, had been in a dispute that resulted in the victim being stabbed.
