Sarnia police investigate the murder of Sue Elin Lumsden in the city’s 3rd murder of 2021

Sarnia Police Service and emergency crews responded to the report of a deceased female located at a residence in the 200 block of Essex Street on January 23rd at approximately 6:20 pm.

the victim has been identified as Sue Elin Lumsden, 66 years of age, of Sarnia. Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch has since taken over the investigation and is treating it as a homicide. The cause of death has not been released at this time.

 Anyone with information that may assist or if anyone has video surveillance in the neighbourhood surrounding the 200 block of Essex Street is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Branch Information Line at 519-344-8861, extension 5300.

Detectives are requesting any video surveillance from either residents or businesses, within the following boundaries; Exmouth Street to the north, Christina Street to the west, LaSalle Line to the south, and Highway 40 to the east. The time frame to be captured would be as follows:

  1. January 22, 2021, 5:00 PM to January 23, 2021, 8:00 AM
  2. January 25, 2021, 7:00 PM to January 26, 2021, 7:00 AM

Police are also asking for residents to search their property for any piece of identification belonging to Sue Elin Lumsden (Essex Street). If you locate any identification with her name on it please do not touch it but instead immediately call the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861, extension 0. Officers will respond and retrieve any located items.
