On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at around 4:10 a.m., emergency responders were called to the 600-block of Lancaster Avenue after an unconscious individual was found lying on the road.

The victim, later identified as 30-year-old Nicsy Arboleda Rodriguez from Saint John, was discovered with severe injuries. Despite receiving first aid at the scene, she was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Forensic Services and the Major Crime Unit have since launched an investigation into the incident.

On January 02, 2025, a 26-year-old man was taken into custody for murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 03, 2024.

Police have confirmed that the victim and accused were known to each other.
