RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in Nanton on December 27th.

On arrival police and paramedics located several people suffering from injuries. a 54-year-old Nanton resident was pronounced deceased, and three other victims and the suspect were transported to hospital with injuries. Investigators have not released the identity of the deceased.

RCMP have charged Ryan Kelly Sutherland, 45, with:

· Second-degree murder

· Aggravated Assault (x3)

· Fail to comply with release conditions

Sutherland’s next court date is scheduled for Jan. 4, 2023, at Fort Macleod Provincial Court.
