Southey RCMP received a report of an injured female at a residence on Piapot First Nation on January 2, 2025 at approximately 8:15 a.m.

On arrival police located a deceased adult female at the residence. She has been identified as 30-year-old Melanie Asham-Obey from Pasqua First Nation. 

As a result of continued investigation, 40-year-old Robin Kaiswatum was charged with one count, second degree murder.
