RNC Charge Dylan Baker in Connection With Death of 63-Year-Old Man in Central St. John’s

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, police from Operational Patrol Services responded to a report on Salisbury Street, where a man was found suffering from serious injuries.

The victim, 63-year-old Edgar Learning, was transported to hospital but later passed away on June 18. Police have extended their condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones.

Dylan Baker, 23, appeared in court today and is facing the following charges:

  • Manslaughter
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Breach of probation

The investigation remains ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have information or video footage, including CCTV, dash-camera, or cellphone recordings, from the area of Suez Street, Empire Avenue, Newtown Road, Liverpool Avenue, and Cairo Street between 10:00 p.m. Monday and 1:00 a.m. Tuesday to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000.
