On July 20, 2023, Parkland RCMP issued a missing person release looking for 37-year-old Michelle Rabbit. Parkland RCMP responded to a report of found human remains South of Paul Band First Nation at an abandoned lease site on July 27th.

Following an autopsy the Chief Medical Examiner positively identified as belonging to Michelle Rabbit, and the manner of death has been deemed as a homicide.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit currently has carriage of the continued investigation. No other information is available at this time.
