RCMP investigate the suspicious death of Mardi Broad Scalplock on Siksika First Nation

Gleichen RCMP responded to a 911 report of an unresponsive female at a residence on the Siksika Nation on February 27th at approximately 9:00am.

On arrival police located an adult female deceased and said the initial investigation indicates that the circumstances surrounding the death are suspicious.

The death of 33-year-old Mardi Broad Scalplock was deemed a homicide after an autopsy was completed on March 2, 2022 at the Calgary Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

As a result of the investigation a 41-year-old male from Siksika Nation has been charged with Second Degree Murder. Police have not released his identity.
