Comox Valley RCMP responded to a residence on the 1000-block of 26th Street in Courtenay after being called by paramedics.

Police said an 80-year old woman was located in medical distress in what they believed to be a homicide. The Victims identity and cause of death have not been released.

Police arrested a 55-year-old man who is known to the victim at the scene. He has been charged with second degree murder and remains in custody.
