Update: Teen Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter – RCMP arrest 4 in connection to the 2021 homicide of Taig Savage in Penticton

Penticton RCMP were called to assist BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) on the report of an unresponsive person, at a field located in the 100-block of Eckhardrt Avenue on September 5th at approximately 6:00am.

A man was found with serious injures at the scene. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Const James Grandy said “the identity of the deceased hasn’t yet been confirmed. However, based on the investigation at this initial stage, and in consultation with the BC Coroners Service, we are confident in releasing to the public that the deceased was not a youth, and not a school district student”.

Update September 13th
The victim has been identified as Taig Savage, 22, of Penticton. “We are releasing Taig’s identity and photos in hopes that it will assist in our investigation,” states Superintendent Brian Hunter, Officer in Charge of the Penticton RCMP. “Our Investigators are seeking the assistance of the public and ask that if anyone has information or witnessed this incident to contact the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.

Update April 13th 2024: BC RCMP have arrested four people, three who were youths at the time of the killing. “Police are not releasing the identities of the suspects, three of whom were youths at the time of the murder. Each of the accused either remains in custody or is scheduled to appear in court at a future date,” said Cpl. James Grandy.

Update Sept 5th, 2026: One of three teenagers charged in the death of 22-year-old Penticton man Taig Savage has pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The youth, who was initially charged with second-degree murder, entered the plea on Sept. 4, nearly five years after Savage was found dead.
