Sudbury pedestrian fatality end in First Degree Murder charge

Sudbury police responded to a Collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Lasalle Boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue on September 7th at approximately 2:30am.

Police said the driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene in the vehicle prior to their arrival. The 30-year-old male victim was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His identity will not be released out of respect to the family.

The investigation led police to discover the driver of the vehicle and the 30 year old man were involved in an altercation in the parking lot of the gas station prior to the collision. Police believe the 30 year old man sustained a stab wound prior to being intentionally run over with the vehicle.

On September 9th police arrested 32 year old Edgar Kyle Smith in the area of Falconbridge Road. he has been charged with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Failure to Stop at the Scene of a Collision
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order
