Williams Lake RCMP said a man was located critically injured on Midnight Drive, on May 5th at around 11 p.m.

The victim was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. Sgt. Chris Manseau said “We are in the infancy stages of our investigation; however, the early indications suggest that this was a targeted attack, although a full determination has yet to be made.”

Update: On May 3rd, 2024, Michael Bauer (26) and Garrett Shirey (25) were arrested and charged with manslaughter in the 2022 death of Richard Richie Todd.

Bauer was arrested in Williams Lake and Shirey was arrested in Houston, BC. Both Bauer and Shirey remain in custody and will be appearing virtually in Williams Lake Court on Monday, May 6th, 2024.

“This was a thorough investigation spanning over two years and it shows our investigators’ determination to seek out the truth,” said Cpl. Brett Urano, spokesperson for the BC RCMP. “We would like to thank the public and our partners for their assistance throughout the investigation leading to these charges.”
