Sûreté du Québec responded to a home on Chemin Payette around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11th, where they discovered a 73-year-old woman critically injured. She was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to her wounds a short time later.

Investigators quickly apprehended her 14-year-old grandson, who was found after crashing his grandmother’s vehicle nearby. The teen was initially charged with attempted murder during a court appearance on Tuesday, just hours before his grandmother’s passing.

Authorities say he is expected to return to court on Wednesday, where additional charges will be laid in connection with the woman’s death.
