On October 8th, around 8:50 p.m., officers from the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Downtown Division responded to reports of gunfire near 107 Avenue and 109 Street.
When they arrived, they found an injured man outside a residence and began life-saving efforts. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Andrew Donald McCabe. An autopsy conducted on Thursday, October 9, confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound, and his death has been ruled a homicide. The EPS Homicide Section is now leading the investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time. Police are asking anyone with surveillance or dashcam footage from the area between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on October 8—or anyone with information about the incident—to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567.
