According to Journal de Quebec 45-year-old Dominique Larocque was found dead on a mountain bike trail near the Chute-à-Caron dam in the Jonquière borough of Saguenay on June 8th. A passerby discovered the body around 7:45 p.m. and alerted authorities.

Police say evidence collected at the scene suggests the death may be a homicide, so investigators from the Sûreté du Québec’s Major Crimes Unit and forensic specialists are examining the area to determine what happened.

Authorities have not revealed whether the victim showed signs of violence, saying that information could compromise the investigation.

Investigators currently see no connection between this case and recent armed violence involving criminal groups in the region. The area around Côte Desmeules was closed off while evidence was gathered, and the Saguenay Police Service is assisting with the investigation.

No suspects have been arrested so far.
