Calgary police responded to a the Super 8 hotel located at 60 Shawville Road S.E., on March 25th for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a man within one of the suites suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. He was declared deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Liban ABDIRAHMAN.

Update: Ahmed Abdi HASSAN, 29, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder in connection to the fatal shooting of Liban ABDIRAHMAN that occurred on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Super 8 hotel located at 60 Shawville Road S.E.

HASSAN was located in Red Deer and taken into custody with assistance from the Red Deer RCMP. He was subsequently transported to Calgary and remains in custody.
