Ottawa police investigate the fatal stabbing of a Nova Scotia teen Eric Hewer

Ottawa Police were called to the area of Metcalfe and Albert Streets on July 26th at approximately 8:39pm on the report of a stabbing.

Police arrived to find two people suffering from stab wounds. Both victims were rushed to hospital where 19-year-old Eric Hewer, of Nova Scotia, died of his injuries. Police said the second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A gofundme campaign has been created in memory of Eric Hewer.

Update July 29th
Ottawa police have identified all parties in the dispute, and ask anyone with information about an altercation between three e-scooter riders and a black Volkswagen in the evening of July 26th at approximately 8:40pm on Metcalfe Street, to contact the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.

Update Sept 1st:
Ottawa police said following a thorough investigation involving witness interviews and examination of video evidence, and with input from the Crown Attorney’s Office, we have decided that no charges will be laid in connection with the tragic death of Eric Hewer.
