Tristan ETHIER charged – Ottawa police investigate the fatal shooting of Kevin Willington

Police responded to a shooting at approximately 9:22 p.m. Friday April 19th, in a home on Birch Avenue. Police said the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. 

The Ottawa Police Homicide Unit has identified the victim as 53-year-old Kevin Willington, of Ottawa. Willington was well-known in the badminton community. He was the longtime secretary of the Ottawa District Badminton Association and the former director of coaching for Badminton Ontario.

Update: 20-year-old Tristan ETHIER, of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of Kevin Willington.                        

Homicide investigators are still attempting to identify a second suspect involved in the incident who was in the company of ETHIER. The unidentified suspect is described as a white male, 6’1” (185cm) to 6’2” (188 cm), 190 lbs (86kg) wearing dark clothing and a mask.

Investigators believe the murder happened during the robbery of a weekly basement poker game after an ensuing struggle.
