Ottawa 2026 Homicide Victim List
Emergency crews and police were called to the report of a stabbing on Rideau St near the intersection of Colonel By Dr. on February 19th at approximately 5:35 p.m.
On arrival police located 58-year-old Gilles Comtois with life-threatening injuries. Comtois was rushed to hospital but later died from those injuries.
Authorities confirmed that one suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active, with officers continuing their work in the area. The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit has charged 70-year-old Yves Brisebois with first-degree murder.
Officials are currently working to notify the victim’s next of kin. Further updates will be shared once that process has been completed.
