On the evening of June 21, 2025, around 7:20 p.m., the Shediac RCMP received a report about a missing 67-year-old man who had last been seen on Collins Lake Road in Beaubassin East, New Brunswick.
Early the next morning, around 6 a.m. on June 22, police discovered the man’s body in a wooded area near his home. As the investigation progressed, officers quickly identified a person of interest. Just a few hours later, at 10:10 a.m., a 29-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the case.
The suspect, Philippe LeBlanc, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on June 23 and was formally charged with first-degree murder. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
The investigation remains active as police continue to gather evidence.
