Norfolk OPP is investigating a homicide that occurred on October 5th at approximately 10:30am at a home on Head Street in Simcoe.

Police said the victim has been identified as 71-year-old Barbara Morgan of Simcoe. Police have not released the cause of death.

Update: The victim’s son, 45-year-old Justin Morgan has been charged with Second-Degree Murder.

As part of a homicide investigation, Simcoe Norfolk OPP are concerned for the well-being of a second person. Robert Sykes, age 49, is currently unaccounted for and was last seen on Head St. Sl, on Saturday, October 4, 2025

Update: On October 17th, OPP announced that human remains located off Highway 6 in Haldimand County are believed to be part of the ongoing homicide investigation in Simcoe.

Opp announced that after a post-mortem exam, the remains were identified as Robert Sykes, 49, of Simcoe and the cause of death has been listed as homicide.

Update: On Thursday, November 27 Police said the second-degree murder charge for his mother’s death was upgraded to first-degree murder. A second charge of first-degree murder was added in connection to Robert Sykes’ death.
