Halton Regional Police responded to a report of an elderly male lying on the sidewalk near Allan Street and Church Street in Oakville on August 24th at approximately 4:40pm.
Police and paramedics arrived to find 91-year-old Edmond Ferrari suffering from obvious chest injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, Ferrari was pronounced at the scene. Police have not released the cause of death at this time.
Halton police are searching for the driver of a Volkswagon Golf who was seen leaving the area of Allan Street and Church Street shortly before Mr. Ferrari was discovered. The driver has been described as Black Male, approximately 6 feet tall, 30-40 years old with shoulder-length hair, wearing a black long-sleeve hoodie, black pants, possibly with a reflective/fluorescent stripe.
Dazel Henry, was arrested and charged with First degree murder.
Update
On November 24th, 2023, Superior Court Justice Erica Chozik found Dazel Henry not criminally responsible for his actions in the death of Edmund Ferrari.
“I accept the undisputed evidence that Mr. Henry was suffering from schizophrenia at the time of the offence and agree that this evidence is overwhelming,” said Justice Erica Chozik.
