The investigation into the death of Delta resident Ian Roberts has reached a major milestone, nearly eight years after his body was discovered in Pitt Meadows.

On April 30, 2018, at approximately 6:00 a.m., members of the Langley RCMP recovered a red 1996 GMC Jimmy linked to 43-year-old Ian Roberts. Later that same day, at around 2:30 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP received a report of a body found in Pitt Meadows. Officers attended the scene and located a deceased man who was later identified as Roberts.

Following the discovery, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) assumed responsibility for the case. Investigators worked closely with policing partners from Ridge Meadows, Langley, Surrey, and Delta to determine the circumstances surrounding Roberts’ death.

Over the next eight years, IHIT investigators continued to pursue the case, carefully examining evidence and following numerous leads. Their efforts helped establish critical details about Roberts’ cause of death and the location where the homicide is alleged to have occurred.

As the investigation progressed, detectives identified key evidence that ultimately led to charges being approved.

On June 11, 2026, 45-year-old Miikael Tattoo King, formerly known as Michael Branden Anderson, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of obstruction of justice in connection with the death of Ian Roberts.

Investigators believe the homicide was a targeted incident involving individuals who were known to each other.

“This was a lengthy and highly complex investigation that demanded years of dedicated work by investigators who were committed to finding the answers,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.

“Through meticulous examination of evidence and persistent pursuit of all available leads, the investigation has now reached a significant milestone with the laying of a first-degree murder charge. We hope this development provides some measure of comfort to the victim’s loved ones as the judicial process moves forward.”

With the matter now before the courts, investigators have stated that no further information will be released.
