Matthew Gerald Tomack Pelletier charged in connection with the homicide of Ricky Dwayne Mancheese in Winnipeg

On June 11, 2024, at approximately 11:50 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of Kennedy Street, half-block from Sister MacNamara Elementary School, for the report of an injured adult male who had been assaulted.

Officers arrived and located 49-year-old Ricky Dwayne Mancheese who had sustained life-threatening injuries resulting from a stabbing and immediately provided emergency medical care before the arrival of the ambulance. Mancheese was rushed to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced deceased.

According to reports Mancheese was walking home to meet their 12-year-old son for lunch when the assault happened. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help support his wife and son. 

On June 12, at approximately 6:00 p.m., investigators arrested 36-year-old Matthew Gerald Tomack Pelletier of Winnipeg without incident. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
