Langley RCMP was responded to the report of the sound of gunshots in the 7000 block of 202 Street on August 2, 2024, just after midnight.

On arrival officers were responding an additional report of two men suffering from gunshot wounds at the hospital. One of the men has succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators said the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Langley RCMP.

According to The Vancouver Sun, the victim has been identified as Dillan Unger, 41.

Update: On July 31, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service charged Stephen Johnson with second-degree murder in relation to the homicide of Mr. Unger. Mr. Johnson also faces the following charges in connection with the incident on August 2, 2024,

• four counts of attempted murder,
• one count of aggravated assault,
• one count of using a firearm in the commission of an offence, and
• one count of reckless discharge of a firearm.

Investigators can confirm that Mr. Unger and Mr. Johnson were known to each other. Mr. Johnson remains in custody.

Over the past year, investigators have remained committed to advancing this investigation and securing charges in this case, says Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi of IHIT. IHIT would like to thank the Langley RCMP and IFIS for their support throughout the investigation.

As this matter is now before the courts, no additional information will be released.
