Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to a report of a serious assault at the encampment around the safe injection site / Consumption Treatment Services and Integrated Care Hub at 661 Montreal Street on September 12, 2024, at approximately 10:40 a.m.

Upon arriving, officers located three victims as well as a male suspect. The suspect was contained in the area where police remained engaged in an active standoff situation with the suspect. 

The victims were suffering injuries consistent with those caused by an edged weapon and blunt instrument. They were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where two of the victims succumbed to their injuries while the third remained in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
