Drumheller RCMP responded to serious assault at the Drumheller Institution on January 26th at 8:40pm.

It has been reported that 34-year-old Jeffrey Ryan of Parkland County, was attcked by Ashley Baird, 38, of Nanaimo, B.C., in what RCMP said was allegedly unprovoked.

Ryan was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. Ashley Baird has been charged with second degree murder and will be appearing in Drumheller Provincial Court on Feb. 11, 2022.
