Toronto police responded to a call on Monday, December 1, 2025, in the area of Yonge Street and Kempford Boulevard.

According to investigators, officers found 71-year-old Tatiana Shamalov of Toronto deceased inside a residence. The circumstances surrounding her death were considered suspicious, prompting a full investigation. As a result of that investigation, a suspect was taken into custody.

This case marks Toronto’s 39th homicide of 2025.

On Monday, December 15, 2025, Imtiaz Ahmed, 44, also of Toronto, was arrested and charged with manslaughter. He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on December 15th.
