Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said the circumstances surrounding the discovery of human remains in the area south of Silver Creek on March 29th have been deemed suspicious.
IHIT has taken over the investigation and says it is working closely with the RCMP and its forensics team, as well as the BC Coroners Service.
On May 1st The IHIT revealed the identity of the remains as 48-year-old Trina Hunt of Port Moody, who was last seen at her home on January 18th. The homicide investigation is active and police will not be releasing any further information at this time.
The family of Trina Hunt is offering $50,000 to anybody who brings such information to the RCMP, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
Update: On February 4, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service approved one count of indignity to human remains against 52-year-old Iain Hunt, the husband of Trina Hunt. This charge occurs when a person neglects to perform their legal duty to bury a dead human body, or if a person interferes in an improper, indecent or undignified way with a dead human body or human remains.
The laying of a charge does not dilute the loss and pain endured by Trina’s family and friends,
says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. There is still a long road ahead as the community continues to heal from her tragic death.
This case is now before the courts and no further details will be provided.
