IHIT investigate the Surrey homicide of Aren Alexander Smith

Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots-fired in the area of the 2300-block of 167A Street on March 13th just before 8:00pm.

On arrival police located 38-year-old Aren Alexander Smith in a parked vehicle deceased. The cause of death was gunshot injuries.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in a white Penske Ford Transit van.

The IHIT said that Smith had no known ties to the continuing Lower Mainland gang conflict, and he and his family had recentely moved to the city.

Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from areas in the 2300-block of 168th Street and Highway 10 near 144th Street in Surrey, on March 13 between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m, or anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email to ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
