Homicide investigation underway after a woman’s torso was found near the Oshawa Harbour in Lake Ontario

Oshawa police responded to report of a female torso floating in the Lake in the area of Simcoe Street South and Harbour Road on September 11th at approximately 8:30pm.

Police arrived at the scene where the fisherman found the body part and confirmed that it was a female torso. An autopsy is scheduled for today, September 12th, at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto to determine the cause of death and to identify the victim.

Update September 13th
The results of the post mortem conducted on Sept 12th were inconclusive as far as the cause of death. Police said further testing will be conducted at the Centre of Forensic Sciences.

Update No ember 10th

Durham region police announced that the woman found dead in the lake has been identified as 18 year old Rori Hache. Hache had been reported missing by her family back in August. Police have not realeased any other details at this time.
