The 2024 Mississauga Homicide Victim List is available here
Peel Police responded to reports of an altercation at a residence near Joan Drive and Central Parkway Drive in the City of Mississauga, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 3:47 a.m.
On arrival, officers located one adult man suffering from gunshot injuries. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. Two other men were found injured and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim has been identified as 55-year-old, WEI Ruo Zhao of Mississauga.
Police said several suspects fled in a white-coloured SUV. There are no suspect descriptions at this time.
Update February 2nd, 2026: After an extensive and complex investigation involving large-scale canvassing spanning more than 80 kilometres, forensic examinations, and multiple judicial authorizations, investigators identified the suspects along with others believed to have been involved.
As a result of executed search warrants and coordinated arrests, a firearm was recovered and seven individuals were taken into custody and held for bail hearings on the following charges:
Sonam Wangchuk (25), Muhammad Rahimullah (21), and Tenzin Lama (21):
- Second Degree Murder
- Attempted Murder with a Firearm
Kang Lu (69), Kwok Chik (65), and Xi Chen (64):
- Manslaughter
Tenzin Jungney (21):
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
