On August 9, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a report of a male suffering from stab wounds after he was discovered by a taxi driver on Main Street West near Frid Street. The victim was taken to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police believe the 21-year-old victim may have been involved in an earlier altercation near King Street West and Paradise Road North earlier that evening. The Homicide Unit has identified the victim as Zenin Roussel.

Investigators say Zenin and the suspects had been at King Street Billiards before the incident. After the business closed, a verbal dispute broke out outside on King Street West. Police have not yet determined what sparked the confrontation.

Following the argument, the victim and suspect left the area separately. About 10 minutes later, they crossed paths near Main Street West and Frid Street, where the victim was stabbed.

Police say four additional people witnessed the incident. All four witnesses have since been identified and interviewed by investigators.

On August 11, 2026, Kyle Dumont-McArthur was arrested without incident. He made his first court appearance on August 12th, and has been charged with second-degree murder.

Investigators continue to ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information that may assist with the investigation to contact Detective Alex Buck at 905-546-4123. Additionally, anyone with dash camera or video from the area between 2:00-2:45 a.m. is asked to check their cameras.
