Hamilton Police responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the area of Herkimer Street and Caroline Street South on October 3rd at approximately 11:00pm.
On arrival police located a 36-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in an alley. The man was rushed to hospital where he then succumbed to his injuries. Police have identified the victim as 36-year-old Tito Kelly of Hamilton.

Police can confirm a loaded firearm was located at the scene.
Shortly after the discovery, police received information that a person was admitted to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.
Police are now investigating if the two incidents are related and continue to hold the scene at Herkimer Street and Caroline Street South, where multiple bullet casings were located. Police believe this was an isolated incident involving a drug transaction where both sides exchanged gunfire.
Update: The investigation has revealed a small royal blue four door sedan with dark tint fled the scene westbound on Markland Street at a high rate of speed. Police are asking homeowners and motorists in the area to check their cameras between the hours of 10:50 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. for images of the vehicle.
Update: Hamilton police announced the arrest of Donte Smith, 36, of Brampton on July 11th for manslaughter in relation to the investigation. Smith remains in custody after his bail was denied at a hearing on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
On July 31st 2024, Hamilton police arrested 22-year-old Albert Hyseni, has been arrested for manslaughter.
