Hamilton Homicide #10 – Police investigate the homicide of Christopher La Rose at Red Rose Motel

Hamilton police responded to the Red Rose Motel at approximately 9:45am on July 18th, on the report of a stabbing.

Police located the victim at a bus shelter near the motel suffering from stabbing injuries. The victim was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. Police said the victim was injured during an altercation in the motel, where he was visiting people in one of the units.

Police said Major Crime is now investigating the death of an adult male. There is a heavy police presence in the area with Queenston Road closed between Nash and Woodman.

Update July 19th
Hamilton police have identified the victim as 40-year-old, Christopher La Rose of Brampton. Police believe this to be a targeted attack and are reviewing area CCTV video in an effort to identify those people involved.

Update July 21
On July 20, Hamilton police announced that an arrest warrant had been issued for Myles Blackburn, 40, for First Degree Murder.

Police arrested Myles Blackburn in the area of Ferguson Avenue South and Young Street in the City of Hamilton later that day, and charged him with First Degree Murder of Christopher La Rose. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 21st.
