Hamilton Police were called to a home in Stoney Creek, near the intersection of Trafalgar and Mud Street on Saturday, February 10th at approximately 7:42pm.
Police arrived to find a 56-year-old man with severe injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. According to reports he was shot with an arrow. The deceased has been identified as 56-year-old, Kuldip Singh of Stoney Creek.
Investigators said witnesses told police the male suspect, 22-year-old, Sukhraj Cheema-Singh, the son of the deceased, fled immediately after an altercation with the victim. The suspect is said to have fled in a small dark-colored SUV, that was last seen traveling northbound on Trafalgar towards Mud Street.
Investigators believe the suspect was in the area for approximately 30 minutes before the incident.
Sukhraj Cheema-Singh is wanted by police for First Degree Murder. Sukhraj remains outstanding and is considered armed and dangerous.
Sukhraj Cheema-Singh fled in a dark blue mid-size SUV. It was last seen travelling northbound on Trafalgar towards Mud Street.
Update: Hamilton Police arrested 22-year-old Sukhraj Cheema-Singh in Toronto on Feb 12th. Cheema-Singh was wanted for First-Degree murder in the death of his father. Police continue to investigate the motive of the homicide, including whether substance use or mental illness were factors.
The murder weapon, a high-powered archery weapon, has not been recovered.
