Halifax police responded to reports of gunfire near Highfield Park Drive and True North Crescent at approximately 12:00pm.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite attempts to revive him with CPR, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area as the investigation continues.

The case is being treated as a homicide. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service will be conducting an autopsy, and the victim’s identity will not be released until that process is complete; however, according to The Chronicle Harold the victim is Tyson Cain, 50.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and police will share more details as they become available.
