The 2025 Edmonton Homicide Victim List is available here

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services alerted police after firefighters responded to a blaze near 120 Avenue and 77 Street in the early hours of Sunday, June 1, around 2:47 a.m., and found a deceased man inside the home.

Officers from the Northwest Branch arrived on scene and deemed the circumstances around the death to be suspicious. The case has now been handed over to the EPS Homicide Section. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

Update: The victim has been identified as Michael Jackman, 48, and police say the manner of death was homicide. The cause of death is being withheld for investigative purposes.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage—especially from around 1:30 to 2 a.m. near 77 Street and 120 Avenue—to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or dial #377 from a mobile device.
