The 2025 Edmonton Homicide Victim List is available here
In the early hours of Friday, May 16, 2025, Edmonton Police responded to a distressing call about an unconscious man found near 118 Avenue and 87 Street. Emergency crews arrived at approximately 12:45 a.m., providing life-saving treatment before rushing the victim to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
Sadly, the man, 30-year-old Evander Saddleback, succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the hospital on Tuesday, May 20.
An autopsy conducted on Thursday, May 22, confirmed that Evander died from a blunt head injury. His death has been ruled a homicide, and the Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section is now leading the investigation.
Police are asking anyone who may have surveillance or dashcam footage from the area between 9 p.m. on May 15 and 1 a.m. on May 16 to come forward.
