The 2025 Edmonton Homicide Victim List is available here

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Around 8:49 p.m., Edmonton police responded to reports of multiple gunshots near 41 Avenue and Chappelle Road.

Upon arrival, officers found a male deceased in the driver’s seat of a vehicle outside a residence. EMS declared the man dead at the scene. The EPS Homicide Section has taken over the investigation, with an autopsy scheduled for February 21, 2025.

Police are asking anyone in the Chappelle area with dash cam or home security footage from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on February 18, 2025, to come forward. Witnesses to the shooting or anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area are encouraged to contact the EPS.

Update On Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy and determined that Jose Cruz Gonzalez Aceves, 45, died as a result of a gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide.
