Edmonton police were called to the area of 97 Street and 119 Avenue on November 13th on report of an injured man. Police arrived to find the victim, Leonardo Duran Ibanez 42 of Columbia, unconscious on the sidewalk.

Witnesses said Ibanz and his brother in-law were approached by four men and two women at around 3:20am. The Suspect’s punched Ibanez in the face and kicked him in the head repeatedly. The brother in-law sustained minor injuries.

Ibanez was rushed to hospital where he died Sunday afternoon. Autopsy reports confirmed he died of head trauma.
