Canupawakpa Detachment of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) received a request to check on the wellbeing of a 37-year-old male from the community on November 22, 2024, at 2:25 pm.

MFNPS officers attended but could not immediately locate the male. They continued to follow up but were not able to find him.

On November 30, 2024, MFNPS officers located the body of the 37-year-old male deceased. RCMP said his death is being treated as a homicide.
