Calgary police were called to an assault in the 1000 block of 9 Avenue S.E., on August 27th at approximately 1:35pm.

On arrival police and paramedics located a man who appeared to be suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police said they have arrested a man who is believed to be responsible for the murder, however, he cannot be released as no charges have been laid at this time.

Update: the victim has been identified as Edward Brett Davidson, 39, and he died as the result of a stab wound. Police said Davidson lived in the building and had no prior interactions with his attacker.

As of now, Cory Carl Miklic, who is also known as Cory Szabo, has been charged with manslaughter. Police said his charges may be upgraded in the future.

Update: The charges against Cory Carl Miklic, who also goes by the last name Szabo have been upgraded to Second degree murder.
