Calgary police said the victim and a friend left Jerusalem Shawarma at 1608 2 Street S.W. and headed to their parked vehicle in the alley behind the restaurant on April 1st at approximately 8:30pm.

While sitting in the vehicle the pair were approached by unknown shooters who fired multiple rounds. A man in his 20’s was stuck and the driver began to flee the scene towards the hospital while calling 9-1-1 for help. Their SUV stopped at 16 Avenue N.E. and Deerfoot Trail N.E. at approximately 8:54 p.m., where they were met by emergency responders. One man was declared deceased on the scene. 

Calgary police said in a press release that it is too early in the investigation to know if this suspicious death is linked to the other two deaths currently under investigation. 

Anyone who may have dashcam footage from eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. to Deerfoot Trail N.E. from 8:30 -9:45 p.m. or any other information about this suspicious death is asked to contact the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234.

Update April 6th
Calgary police announced that an autopsy was completed on April 5th and the victim has been identified as Majed Ahmed ZULFIQAR, 26, of Calgary. It has been determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner that the victim died as a result of gunshot injuries.
