On Thursday, March 13, 2025, police responded to reports of a man in medical distress in the 900 block of Seventh Avenue S.W.

73-year-old George Fernandez was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries on March 14.

Investigators said after reviewing CCTV, it is believed that earlier that morning, a woman had entered the building to take the packages left in the lobby. The security guard intervened, trying to retrieve the packages while asking her to leave. The woman then pushed the man, causing him to fall back hitting his head on the ground. The woman then proceeded into the office area where it is believed she stole a laptop and other items in the office.

Authorities have arrested one individual in connection with the incident. Amanda Robyn AHENAKEW, 45, has been charged with manslaughter in relation to this death. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 16th
