Banff RCMP were called to an altercation at the Dancing Sasquatch on Banff Avenue at approximately 2:26am on August 5th.

On arrival police located an injured 26-year-old male from Banff. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was declared deceased.

As a result of the investigation, police took a 22-year-old man into custody at the scene. Police have not released what charges he may be facing.

Update August 6th
the victim has been identified as Ethan Enns-Goneau, 26. John-Christopher Arrizza, a 22-year-old Banff resident, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of this investigation, with the assistance of Banff RCMP and the RCMP Forensic Identification Unit.
