Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the 12700-block of 66 Avenue, on December 7th at approximately 9:22pm.
On arrival police located a 40-year-old Harpreet Kaur in medical distress, suffering from a life-threatening stab wound. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the victim succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.
40-year old Navinder Gill was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody, and charged with second-degree murder. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken carriage of the investigation and continue to work with the Surrey RCMP. Neither the suspect or the victim were known to police.

Update: On June 22, 2023, Gill pleaded guilty to his wife’s murder.

Navinder Gill the husband of Harpreet Kaur Gill has been sentenced to life in prison.
