Montreal police have confirmed the death of a 21-year-old man who was shot in the parking lot of Angrignon Park on June 24th. The victim had been in critical condition since the shooting and passed away on Friday July 4th, making this the 19th homicide in the city so far this year.
Emergency crews responded to reports of gunfire around 8:30 p.m. in the Southwest borough. The man had suffered serious gunshot wounds to his upper body and was rushed to hospital, where he remained until succumbing to his injuries.
SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils stated that one or more suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. A security perimeter was quickly established to allow investigators and forensic teams to examine the area. A shell casing was recovered at the scene.
The case is now being handled by the Major Crimes Unit. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
