16-year-old boy charged with manslaughter in relation to the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police responded to a shooting at a residence in the Jefferson neighbourhood on August 5th at approximately 8:15 p.m.

On arrival, police located a deceased 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.

Winnipeg police said the investigation revealed a group of teenagers were socializing at one of their residences, along with the accused, who brought a sawed-off shotgun. At one point, the accused carelessly pointed a loaded firearm at three of the youths. The firearm was then discharged, striking the teen.

On August 8, the Major Crimes Unit arrested a 16-year-old male of Winnipeg. He has been charged with Manslaughter and the following firearm-related offences:

– Pointing a Firearm x 3

– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

– Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs

– Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
