The 2025 Toronto Homicide Victim List is available here
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, around 10 p.m., Toronto police responded to reports of gunfire near Sheppard Avenue East and Brimley Road.
According to investigators, the victim and several suspects had been at the same establishment when a physical altercation broke out. During the confrontation, the suspects allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim.
First responders performed life-saving measures at the scene, and the victim was rushed to hospital with critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, the victim, 42-year-old Yueyuan Dong of Woodbridge, died from his injuries on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
This incident marks Toronto’s 35th homicide of 2025.
Police have identified three suspects and issued Canada-wide warrants for their arrest:
- Kai Chen, 29, of Markham
- Donald Keeshig, 29, of Toronto
- Kye-Shawne Griffiths, 28, of Brampton
All three are wanted for second-degree murder.
On Sunday, November 9, 2025, one of the suspects, Donald Keeshig, attended 42 Division and turned himself in to police.

- Second Degree Murder
Update: On Saturday, April 4, 2026, Kye-Shawne Griffiths, 29, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with:
- Second Degree Murder
Kai Chen, 30, of Markham, remains outstanding. He is wanted for Second Degree Murder.
